About Perfect Imerfection
I’m Merissa. I am a nanny, art teacher and artist all in one. After teaching a number of art classes, I heard the same thing over and over from students who were new to whatever media we were using. “I am not creative.” This makes me sad.
You see, the way I see it, we were all born with an interest in, well.... pretty much anything. Until we were at least five years old, almost everything we did was brand new. But, we didn’t give up. If we had, no one would be able to walk, play or even bathe themselves. We kept trying. We didn’t dwell on all our little mistakes. I’d even go as far to say, we embraced them.
I created Perfect Imperfections because I really want to see more people say to themselves, “I am creative, I just have more to learn.” Then, keep practicing their new skills until they get it right. I firmly believe you only fail when you give up. Now that you know a little bit about me and my values, let me tell you about my plans for Perfect Imperfections.
Perfect Imperfections consists of three important parts; Community, Workshops and Classes.
Perfect Imperfections consists of three important parts; Community, Workshops and Classes.
The Classes and Workshops
I love to help others discover all the wonderful things they can accomplish if they throw out the need to be perfect and accept that we are all learning. All of the Perfect Imperfections classes, workshops and day camps are in a laid back environment with a focus on the process and not the end result. I can’t promise you will LOVE your first project, but I can promise you will surprise yourself.
The Community
I have a huge circle of support, and they have helped me learn and grow into the person I am becoming. If you are learning a new skill, I invite you to post progress photos about what you are learning, your struggles and your successes. Use the hashtag #imperfectme on Instagram, or post photos to the Facebook Page. If you have taken one of my art classes, I encourage you to join the Perfect Imperfections alum group on Facebook. Whatever you do, don’t be afraid to fail temporarily. Just make sure when you fall, you get back up again. YOU ONLY FAIL WHEN YOU GIVE UP!
